Reading retreats in Australia

A beautiful house in the countryside. A comfy chair with a view. A stack of books you’ve been “meaning to get to” for years. Nobody needs anything from you, lunch is already sorted, and the only decision left today is which chapter to start next.

That’s a Busy with Books reading retreat. After two years of sold-out weekends in New Zealand, we’ve brought them home to Australia, starting in Victoria.

Slow, bookish weekends away.

What is a
reading retreat?

A reading retreat is a getaway for book lovers, like you and me.

We’re all juggling a million things and secretly wishing we had more time to read instead of… folding laundry.

A book retreat is an escape from all that: A weekend to slow down in a stunning setting, chat about your favourite reads with fellow book nerds, and indulge in delicious food.

For a whole weekend, there are no obligations and you can keep yourself busy with books (see what I did there?).

Our first Australian retreat: Daylesford.

Daylesford has been Victoria’s go-to escape for over a century, thanks to its mineral springs, rolling hills, wineries and the quiet you only get in the countryside. It’s close enough to Melbourne for a Friday afternoon drive and far enough away to feel like you’ve properly left.

Our first Australian reading retreat will take place there in December 2026. Find out more here.
