Hi, I’m Hanna!
Avid reader, recipe sharer, and founder of Busy With Books.
I grew up in the Italian Alps, now live on the Kāpiti Coast, and spend most of my time either buried in a book or plotting ways to help others do the same (ideally with snacks).
Busy With Books is my love letter to slow living, good food, and making space for ourselves - through online book chats and real-life reading retreats.
Is your TBR pile out of control too? Then you’re in the right place ❤️
I’m originally from South Tyrol - the northernmost region of Italy that used to be part of Austria. It’s a fascinating mash-up of cultures where you grow up eating pasta and strudel, and switch between Italian and German.
I like to think I inherited the best of both worlds: the organisational skills of the Germans/Austrians and the food-loving, joy-chasing spirit of the Italians.
Growing up in this special place has taught me that food is about so much more than eating:
It’s about slowing down and showing love.
That’s exactly the kind of feeling I want to bring to Busy With Books - whether it’s through a recipe in the book club or a shared meal at one of the retreats 🥰
…and I also love books, obviously.
-
Harry Potter - my all-time favourite series. It's mandatory to have at least one Harry Potter marathon and/or reread each year. Ideally, more.
Other honourable mentions from my childhood:
The Book Thief by Markus Zusak
Eragon by Christopher Paolini
Inkheart by Cornelia Funke
-
Psychological thrillers
Historical fiction, particularly anything set in Ancient Rome, WW1 & WW2 or the Victorian period
Fantasy
-
Long chapters (I'm talking 100+ pages, who has time for that?)
When my kindle shows the position instead of the page number or time left in the chapter...gross.
Books with stickers on the cover. Especially when you can't remove them.
Books with movie adaptation covers.
